Stuffitts - Any shoe wearer's new best friend
When I first had a look at these, I thought " What the heck? Stuffitts?" Funny, red, foot-shaped, stuffed bags that were supposed to go in my shoes and dry them out... yeah, right. However, once I had tried them, they now have become one of my most favourite pieces of kit. So, what's the deal?
Stuffitts go into your shoes after exercise and dry them out, while also conveniently keeping the shoes in shape. No annoying stuffing with news paper or having to go to the news agent because you've run out of newspaper, only to them discover that even after 2 days your shoes are still kind of wet, the news paper ink has now coloured your shoes and there is that distinctive smell about them of sweaty gym locker.
On their heels, Stuffitts have a zipper and when you open them, they contain a little bag which is filled with aromatic Eastern red cedar. The filling is responsible for drying out your shoes and also absorbing the sweaty feet smell. The cedar wood insert should be exchanged every 6 to 12 months, so they are also recyclable and you don't need to buy a whole new one every time. The fabric cover with the removable straps is made of a double-wicking fabric that can (should) be washed (the cedar wood bags shouldn't be ).
I've used them in my running shoes after quite a muddy session and I've also stuffed them in my cycling shoes after a sweaty spin session, even my street shoes have seen some Stuffitts action after a good puddle dousing courtesy of a car. And they've worked a treat! My shoes dried out quickly and there was no stuffy smell about. My shoes kept in shape nicely, which was particularly important for my street shoes, which were proper leather. Job done.

It took me a moment to figure out what the straps were for and how best to apply them. My first, clumsy attempt cost me a nail, until it dawned on me that the straps worked like the little straps you find in the battery compartments of electricals (doh!). If you feed the straps underneath the Stuffitts out the heel, they come easily out of the shoe when you want to remove them. The straps also conveniently work to carry the shoes around, so there is no fussing about trying to stuff the dirty shoes in some bag and getting your hands dirty. You can either carry them around on the straps directly or just dangle them into a plastic bag. Ace!
They may look funny, but I am inclined to say, they are the best thing since sliced bread. If you are doing sports or your feet simply tend to sweat a lot, get some! They work a treat in drying out your shoes and eliminating the sweaty feet smell. Word has it there will be a Stuffitts kit bag to transport your smelly clothes - CAN'T WAIT!
